Electronic Voice Phenomenon or EVP, are electronically captured voices that are recorded onto any audio device, yet are not heard by the human ear at the time of the recording. People believe that these are the voices of spirits communicating with the physical realm.
IOPIA classifies EVP into three class types with two response indicators. We use this system to determine the level of paranormal activity at a location.
Class A - Loud & Clear - interpreted the same by all listeners.
Class B - Reasonably Clear - interpreted differently by some listeners.
Class C - Requiring headphones to distinguish. Left to interpretations.
Interactive Response - Male or female voice that was recorded in a controlled environment. When you are actively asking question, attempting to provoke a response from a spirit.
Unprovoked Response - Male or female voice recorded in a uncontrolled environment. When not intending to pick up a response. It is for this response type that Paranormal Investigators carry a continuously recording, audio device on them at all times in an investigation.
